Area Students Featured in Wilkes University Spring Theatre Production
2011 Apr 6
Area students are featured in Wilkes University's spring theatre production, A Midsummer Night's Dream, April 7-10. The soon-to-be-wed Theseus, Duke of Athens, gives Hermia four days to decide between marrying Demetrius, going to a nunnery, or going to her death. It is then up to Hermia's true love, Lysander, to concoct a plan of escape. When the lovers are unwittingly followed by Demetrius, who is in turn followed by his spurned lover Helena, the four quickly become pieces in a hilarious and confusing love game orchestrated by Oberon, King of the Fairies, and his sidekick, Puck. Then a troupe of would-be thespians stumble their way into the mix and Oberon seizes the opportunity to teach his Fairy Queen, Titania, a lesson in love too. Set in India in 1923, Wilkes University's production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream is an exotic and whimsical tale of lovers, fairies, and dreamers, and the magical night on which they all collide.
