Wilkes University Civic Band Presents "My Best Friends in Music, Vol. I" in Concert on Dec. 2

Wilkes-Barre, PA (11/20/2018) — The Wilkes University Civic Band will present the concert "Director's Choice: My Best Friends In Music, Vol. I" on Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. in the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts. The concert is conducted by Philip G. Simon, associate professor of music. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.

Guest artist Edison Fowler will play a euphonium solo with band accompaniment titled "A Solitary Prayer." Donald Williams, director of the Wyoming Valley Concert Band, will be guest conductor for "Gathering of the Ranks At Hebron" by David Holsinger. Other pieces on the program include Gustav Holst's Second Suite for Military Band in F, "Chester" by William Schuman, "October" by Eric Whitacre, and other concert band masterworks.

The Wilkes University Civic Band, comprises Wilkes University student musicians and local adult and student musicians from the community.
