Gregory McFarlane of Charlton, N.Y., Inducted into Tri Beta Honor Society

Wilkes University inducted Gregory McFarlane of Charlton, N.Y., as a full member into the Theta Delta Chapter of the national Beta Beta Beta biological honor society during a recent induction ceremony. An additional 15 students were inducted as associate members of the society. Valerie Kalter, associate professor of biology, serves as the chapter's faculty advisor.

McFarlane is a senior biology major. McFarlane is the son of Norman and Christine McFarlane.

Full members are juniors or seniors who have successfully completed at least 16 credits in biology with at least a 3.25 GPA and a 3.0 overall GPA.

Tri Beta was founded in 1922 at Oklahoma City University by Dr. Frank G. Brooks and his students. The idea of an honor society and professional society for biology students spread and by 1925 the society became a national organization. The Theta Delta Chapter was installed at Wilkes in 2001.
