Kayla Hiryak of Gilbertsville, Pa., is one of 45 students at Wilkes University who have accepted on-campus leadership roles as resident assistants in campus residence halls where undergraduate students live. Hiryak is a resident assistant in Evans Hall. Hiryak is a pre-pharmacy major.

Resident assistants are responsible for fostering a residential environment supportive of individual student growth and development and encouraging on-campus community participation. They are appointed for an academic year and have the primary responsibility for a floor, wing or house. The student leaders agree to abide by a code of ethics and must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and a semester grade point average of 2.0 while carrying a full course load of at least 12 credits.
