Shaun Pierre of Moscow, Pa., Performs in Wilkes University Theatre's Presentation of "Seussical"

2013 Oct 30

Shaun Pierre of Moscow, Pa., is performing in Wilkes University Theatre's presentation of Seussical on Nov. 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. in the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center on the University's campus. The musical is based on the works of Dr. Seuss and narrated by The Cat in the Hat. The play tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent to military school for thinking too many "thinks." In addition to protecting the Whos and confronting naysayers and danger, Horton must protect an egg left in his care. The powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant in a play sure to please audiences of all ages.

Written by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens and co-conceived by Eric Idle, Seussical is directed by Joseph Dawson, associate dean and associate professor of performing arts at Wilkes. Ken McGraw provides musical direction and Sean Harris, adjunct faculty of performing arts at Wilkes, directes choreography.

Pierre is a sophomore theatre arts major and plays the parts of a Wickersham and Vlad in the play. Pierre is the son of John and Kathy Pierre.
