2013 Jun 14

Wilkes University student David Brandt, a senior integrative media major from Ashley, Pa., was selected as one of 10 students for the 2013 PromaxBDA Scholars Program. Brandt also received second place in the association's Industry Development Student Story Challenge with a promotional video of himself.

As a scholar, Brandt receives complimentary registration to the PromaxBDA Conference from June 17 to 20 in Los Angeles, a $1,000 stipend, a four-night hotel accommodation for the conference, a peer mentor from Promo Pathway I and opportunities to attend the entertainment marketing career development workshop and the roundtable discussion with PromaxBDA board members on June 18.

PromaxBDA is an international association of entertainment marketing professionals that represents more than 10,000 companies and individuals from more than 65 countries. The association tasks its members to use effective and creative marketing strategies to drive audiences and ratings to their respective networks, stations and content brands. PromaxBDA hosts cultural identity and focus specific conferences that showcase "the thought-leadership, technology and latest developments" impacting the media marketing industry. The conferences aim to provide association members with inspirational, educational and networking opportunities to advance their careers.

The PromaxBDA Scholars Program provides total industry access to network, attend conference sessions, connect with industry leaders and spotlight student talent. The program invites selected students to immerse themselves in the world of entertainment marketing and ignite meaningful relationships with future hiring managers.

The object of the PromaxBDA Student Story Challenge is for students to write, produce, direct and edit a short-form promotional story about themselves using graphics, video, sound and script without directly placing themselves in the video. The contest challenges students to identify and develop the key components of their brand, write a short-form script for the video and create a compelling and original video that communicates the student's complete brand.
