Wilkes University Student Gabriel Velez of Allentown, Pa., to Study in Spain Through Dr. Joseph Donald Stephens, DDS Global Scholars Award

Wilkes University Student Gabriel Velez of Allentown, Pa., will study abroad this summer in Spain. Velez was given the opportunity when she received the Dr. Joseph Donald Stephens, DDS Global Scholars Award. The Dr. Joseph Donald Stephens, DDS Global Scholars Award provides students with scholarships to pursue their education in another country. The award was established by Wilkes University alumni Panos Kalaritis '77 and Deborah (Stephens) Kalaritis '78 in honor of her father, Joseph D. Stephens DDS, a 1951 graduate of Wilkes University. The nursing major will take courses at Colegio Mayor Mara in Madrid and Malaga to earn nine credit hours. She will be immersed in the culture, visiting museums, monuments and learning with students local to the region.
