Wilkes University Student Michael Rogers of Girard, Pa. 16417 Presented Award at Annual Scholarship Luncheon

Michael Rogers of Girard, Pa. 16417, is the recipient of The Richard and Ellen Ayre Memorial Scholarship at Wilkes University. Scholarship students were recognized along with the donors whose gifts made the scholarships possible at the University's annual Scholarship Luncheon on March 22. The scholarship is presented to a student who demonstrates academic ability and a love for music. Students are full-time students seeking a bachelor's degree in musical theater or a minor in music and priority is given to residents of Luzerne County, Pa. and who are interested in piano or organ music. The scholarship was established in 2006 by a bequest of Richard and Ellen Ayre. Mr. Ayre was a former supervisor of music in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District. Rogers is a musical theater major.
