Wilkes University Student Shana Noon of Mahanoy City, Pa., Participates in Alternative Spring Break Trip to Dominican Republic

Shana Noon of Mahanoy City, Pa., was one of eight Wilkes University students who participated in an alternative spring break trip to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Alternative spring break offers students an opportunity to perform community service while experiencing a different culture and developing their leadership, teamwork and critical thinking skills. The Wilkes students spent five days teaching an English as a Second Language program at the Centro Cultural Guanin, a year-round program that serves students of all academic and age levels. Erica Acosta, Wilkes associate director of diversity affairs, and Evene Estwick, associate professor of communication studies, chaperoned the trip.
