Wilkes University's Air Force ROTC Detachment 752 visited the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., in honor of Women's History Month.

The Women in Military Service for America Memorial is the only major national memorial honoring all women who have served in or with the United States Armed Forces throughout history.

Wilkes University is one of only four universities in Pennsylvania that offer the Air Force ROTC program. Students from 10 colleges and universities in northeast Pennsylvania participate in the program. It is open to all full-time college students in any major. Students who participate in the program learn leadership skills, plus a diverse portfolio of other professional skills that will serve them well no matter their career path. Students who successfully complete the Air Force ROTC program enter the active duty Air Force as officers post-graduation in a career field based on their background and education.

About Wilkes University:

Wilkes University is an independent institution of higher education dedicated to academic and intellectual excellence through mentoring in the liberal arts, sciences and professional programs. Founded in 1933, the university is on a mission to create one of the great small universities, offering all of the programs, activities and opportunities of a large, research university in the intimate, caring and mentoring environment of a small, liberal arts college, at a cost that is increasingly competitive with public universities. The Economist named Wilkes 25th in the nation for the value of its education for graduates. In addition to 43 bachelor's degree programs, Wilkes offers 25 master's degree programs and five doctoral/terminal degree programs, including the doctor of philosophy in nursing, doctor of nursing practice, doctor of education, doctor of pharmacy, and master of fine arts in creative writing.
