Polish Ambassador Piotr Wilczek Presents at Wilkes University on Oct. 22

Wilkes-Barre, PA (10/15/2018) — Polish-American relations will be the topic of discussion when Piotr Wilczek, Ambassador of Poland to the United States, speaks at Wilkes University on Oct. 22. Hosted in cooperation with U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, the lecture, "An Overview of Polish-American Relations," is free and open to the public. It begins at 7 p.m. in the second-floor ballroom of the Henry Student Center, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre.

Wilczek is a literary scholar, intellectual historian, writer and translator. He graduated in 1986 from the University of Silesia in Katowice, where he also received his doctorate and post-doctorate degrees. Recruited by his alma mater, he remained there until 2008 as a professor and faculty dean. His interests include comparative literature, philology, and intellectual history that form the culture and geography of knowledge across time. In 2006, he received the title of professor of the humanities from the President of the Republic of Poland. He has served as the Ambassador of Poland to the United States since 2016.
