Wilkes University and The CQA Institute Host Advanced Investment Management Course

Wilkes-Barre, PA (03/07/2019) — The CQA Institute at Wilkes University is hosting a two-week intensive seminar on investment management taught by top Wall Street investment professionals. It will be held May 19 to 31.

The Advanced Investment Management course is open to junior or senior university students who are passionate about working in the investment management industry. Topics include equity and fixed income research, asset allocation, risk management, quantitative research, portfolio management and effective communication. Keynote lectures and discussions will focus on hard skills in areas like programming, risk models and model development. The final capstone project involves students working as a team to develop an investment strategy that is presented to a panel of judges.

Students should have some academic experience such as finance, investments, economics, statistics or business to apply. Acceptance to the program is highly selective and limited to 30 students. Students from any college or university are welcome to apply.

In 2018, 25 students from the United States and abroad participated in the program from institutions that include Wilkes, the University of Pittsburgh, MIT and Rutgers. Students from India, China, Germany, Canada and Nigeria were also enrolled.

The CQA Institute is dedicated to educating students with an interest in the investment management industry. It is staffed by CQA members who help develop programs that provide avenues for students who have a desire to go beyond what they learn in school and take advantage of the real-world experience of accomplished investment professionals.

The cost of the two-week program is $2,500. The application deadline is March 31. Students can apply and learn about scholarship opportunities at www.wilkes.edu/cqa.
