Wilkes University Dedicates Veterans Memorial Court
A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on June 6, which marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Wilkes-Barre, PA (06/05/2019) — Wilkes University will dedicate Veterans Memorial Court at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6. The ceremony will take place next to the flagpoles on the University's Campus Gateway in the Fenner Quadrangle, located off of South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre. The ceremony coincides with the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy during World War II.
Among the speakers are Wilkes President Patrick F. Leahy, Paul S. Adams, vice president of student affairs, and Jonathan Kuiken, assistant professor of global cultures. Kristin Osipower, campus interfaith coordinator, will deliver the invocation. The Air Force ROTC color guard will present the colors and the national anthem will be played at the ceremony.
