Wilkes University Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences Department Receives Software Donation From PETEX
Wilkes-Barre, PA (03/26/2019) — The Wilkes University Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences Department received a software donation from Petroleum Experts, Inc. (PETEX). The donation includes 10 educational user licenses of its MOVE suite, which PETEX values at $2.18 million.
With the software donation, students will get first-hand experience in analyzing and modeling three dimensional geologic structures, fractures, faults and stress. This allows students to better understand risk reduction and uncertainty in geological models by giving them an opportunity to work with industry relevant software. Additionally, the software will allow faculty and student researchers an opportunity to better clarify geologic interpretations by analyzing models and its relationship to other parameters in the software.
The MOVE software suite includes 10 licenses each of: MOVE, 2D Kinematic Modeling, 3D Kinematic Modeling, Geomechanical Modeling, Fracture Modeling, Fault Response Modeling, Fault Analysis, Stress Analysis, MOVE Link for Petrel, MOVE link for OpenWorks, MOVE link for GDT, plus free upgrades.
PETEX is a petroleum engineering and structural geology company based in Edinburgh of the United Kingdom that develops software tools such as Integrated Production Modeling Software, Real Time Field Management software, and Structural Geology Models enabling engineers to construct system models and streamline gas or oil production efficiency.
Housed under Wilkes University's College of Science and Engineering, the Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences Department employs an interdisciplinary approach to studies by providing students with a unique and broad understanding of natural systems. Department emphasis on analysis and experimentation of natural systems provides students with practical job-ready skills.
