Wilkes University Honors Students, Faculty and Staff With 2018 Multicultural Awards
Wilkes-Barre, PA (04/23/2018) — The Center for Global Education and Diversity at Wilkes University recently presented its 2018 multicultural awards. The award recognize students, faculty and staff who have supported and improved the diversity climate on campus, increased international awareness and promotes cross-cultural awareness.
The awards included:
- Global Scholar and Citizen Award: Nshimirimana Zawadi, senior communication studies major, received this award. It is presented to a student who demonstrates significant contributions toward raising international awareness at Wilkes through involvement in campus and community activities promoting cross-cultural awareness.
- Diversity and Inclusion Student Award: Conroy Yearde, junior mechanical engineering major, and Amina Mustafa, sophomore biology major, were this year's winners. The award is given to a student who has contributed to improving the diversity climate.
- Executive Diversity Award: Rodney Ridley, executive director and distinguished professor at the Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at Wilkes University, received this award for contributing to improving the diversity climate.
- Diversity Faculty Award: Blake Mackesy, assistant professor of educational leadership and Linda Paul, associate professor of global cultures, received the 2018 award for being a faculty member who helped improve the diversity climate.
- Diversity Staff Award: Raymond FeDora, assistant director of residence life and Amanda Modrovsky, director of sponsored programs, were selected as staff members who have contributed to improving the diversity climate.
- Global Scholar and Citizen Career Award: This award was presented to Linda Winkler, professor of anthropology. The award is given to a faculty member who has significantly contributed toward increasing international knowledge and promoting cross-cultural awareness through academics, study abroad and involvement with campus activities.
