Writer Poupeh Missaghi Featured at Wilkes University's Allan Hamilton Dickson Spring Writers Series on March 18

Wilkes-Barre, PA (02/24/2020) — Acclaimed writer and translator Poupeh Missaghi will visit Wilkes University as part of the Allan Hamilton Dickson Spring Writers Series. Missaghi will read an excerpt of her debut novel, "trans(re)lating house one," published by Coffee House Press in February 2020. The event, hosted by the Wilkes English Department, will take place Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m in the salon of Kirby Hall, 202 S. River St. The reading is free and open to the public. She also will conduct a workshop for Wilkes students that afternoon.

Missaghi is a writer, a translator of Persian, Iran editor-at-large for Asymptote Journal and an educator. She holds a doctorate in English and creative writing from the University of Denver and a master's degree in creative writing from Johns Hopkins University. Her nonfiction, fiction and translations have appeared in numerous journals, and she has several books of translation published in Iran. She is currently a visiting assistant professor at the Department of Writing at the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn.
