Wilkes University inducted 10 students as associate members into the Theta Delta Chapter of the Beta Beta Beta national biological honor society at an induction ceremony held during the fall semester. Associate members are sophomores and juniors who have completed fewer than 16 biology credits with at least a 3.25 grade-point average and a 3.0 overall GPA. Beta Beta Beta was founded in 1922 at Oklahoma City University by Dr. Frank G. Brooks and his students. The idea of an honor society and professional society for biology students spread and by 1925 the society became a national organization. The Theta Delta Chapter was installed at Wilkes in 2001.

The behavioral and social sciences department at Wilkes University held its annual honor society induction ceremony on April 17.

Seven Wilkes University students were inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society, in a ceremony on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Phi Alpha Theta students must have at least 12 semester hours of history, a 3.1 grade point average and a 3.0 overall grade point average.

Wilkes University honored freshmen students for academic excellence with induction into the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society on Feb. 6. Eligible students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher during their first term or year of college while enrolled full time are invited to join.

Seven members of Wilkes University's chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, used a chapter activity grant to travel to Washington, D.C. There they heard the Supreme Court case Clark versus Rameker, which was an argument concerning the bankruptcy code. The group also met with Sen. Robert Casey and Rep. Matthew Cartwright as well as Wilkes alumni working at various research think tanks.

Six Wilkes University students were inducted into the Phi Phi chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi International Education Honor Society during a ceremony held on Oct. 20, 2015. Students must meet all requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.4 to be eligible for induction. Karen Frantz-Fry, assistant professor of education, is faculty advisor.

Wilkes University recently inducted 11 education majors into Phi Phi, the University's chapter of the international honor society in education Kappa Delta Pi. At the ceremony the honorees received a certificate and honor cords to wear at graduation. Robert Gardner, Wilkes associate professor of education and honor society counselor, spoke about the power of teachers to affect positive change and challenged the teacher candidates to be reflective and adjust to their future students' needs.

Wilkes University students were inducted into the Delta Mu Delta Business Administration Honor Society at the annual induction ceremony dinner on March 21. The keynote speaker was Mr. Chuck Cohen, president of Benco Dental Company and member of Wilkes University's Board of Trustees.

Nineteen students were inducted the National Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi at a March 20 ceremony. Members of the Wilkes University Undergraduate Education Department participated in the Spring Induction Ceremony celebrating the Phi Phi Chapter inductees of the National Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi (KDP). The 19 inductees were chosen because of their outstanding character, service to Wilkes University and the larger community, a high grade point average, and a desire to enter the teaching profession as competent, caring, and ethical educators. In the presence of their family and friends, they pledged to uphold the three ideals of KDP: fidelity to humanity, science, and toil in these words. The pledge of Kappa Delta Pi reads, "To teach that our words inspire a will to learn, to serve that each day may enhance the growth of exploring minds, and to live to guide young and old to know the truth and love the right." Jamie Barlow is the Wilkes Chapter president, and Julie Keefer is the outgoing president. Other officers in the honor society are Amanda Coombs and Amanda Fasciana. Dr. Robert S.
